A home by the Seidler family, for the Seidler family. A deeply personal project, years in the making that is a true reflection of the art of collaboration between architect, interior designer and builder. An embodiment of Seidler’s commitment to deliver homes of uncompromising vision and meticulous craft.

The Promenade is a study in urban generosity and retreat, a dwelling conceived as both artefact and vessel, shaped by its coastal context and the evolving rituals of family life. Conceived as both artefact and vessel, the dwelling responds to its narrow, exposed site through a layered street edge of curved bluestone blades and a raised living plane that maintains uninterrupted views to Port Phillip Bay. Designed for a multi-generational family, The Promenade offers sanctuary, connection and enduring architectural presence.

Bluestone, concrete and anodised aluminium form a robust, enduring palette, softened by native planting. Early collaboration with engineers, fabricators and trades allowed elements such as custom bluestone screens and curved stone cladding to be prototyped and refined through construction. This process developed more efficient and cost-effective construction methods, reduced material waste and generated innovations that will inform future projects.

Realising these outcomes relies on a high level of technical skill and careful resolution. Pushing the boundaries of material use demands rigorous detailing and considered design solutions, ensuring each application is not only expressive but executed to the highest standard of construction.

“The Seidler way of combining detailed design with meticulous construction is really amplified in this home, and I hope that that resonates with people when they visit.”
