The Promenade
Middle Park, Victoria

An Urban Oasis

Architecture, Interiors and Build Seidler

A product of its unique bayside environment, the Promenade by Seidler is a testament to contextual design. The architectural style incorporates curved elements and bluestone walls, paying homage to the classical arches and coastal promenade of the area. The dynamic built form adapts to its urban surroundings, offsetting its bulk at the front and splaying at the rear to maintain a harmonious
streetscape.

Despite the site’s limited northern light, the design provides an expansive and private living space by leveraging the vertical envelope and advanced engineering allowing the home to “float”, offering uninterrupted bay views, concealed outdoor living areas, and seamless transitions between inside and out. The home is both passively and actively efficient, utilizing cross-ventilation, layered screens for privacy, and a geothermal system to create a comfortable, low-maintenance living environment.

An understated, diverse and ambitious material palette is explored through custom crafted details. With every element, junction, and transition meticulously resolved — from the precise alignment of concrete form work joins, stone tiling, and timber ceilings to the finely executed joinery. A level of accuracy crucial to creating an effortless and coherent space. The result speaks for itself: bold, refined, and built meticulously.
